Translation Costs
My basis for calculating the costs of a translation is the German target language line with 55 or 50 strokes per line including spaces. On request, it is also possible to have the calculation based on the total number of words of the English source text.
Tasks involving translation of spreadsheets, terminology maintenance and/or research, formatting and editing of texts are calculated on an hourly basis.
The price of a translation depends on many factors, e. g. usage and readership, degree of professionalism, how urgently the translation is needed, etc. Therefore, it is not possible to quote a standard or package price in advance.
However, upon receiving your text, preferably as an e-mail attachment, I would be pleased to make you a written offer, if you wish, at a fixed price, without any obligations.
The more detailed the description for your translation, the simpler it is to make you an offer and to process your order. Of course, all details are treated confidentially.
Let me add something: Needless to say, also a translator’s qualifications influence the cost of translation. The title "Translator" is not protected by law. Everyone, who is of the opinion that they possess the necessary language skills or knowledge, has the right to use it and offer respective services.
If you have already placed several inquiries for estimates then you will have noticed price differences. Trying to save at the wrong end, however, often results in paying more. What is true for most things also applies to translations: quality is not to be had at "knockdown" prices.
